Making The Big Leap To Secondary School                                  Successfully

The transition from the smaller, more nurturing environment of Primary School to the big, unknown, mystery that is Secondary School can be an anxious time for children (and you as parents!)

This fun filled, empowering workshop will help you prepare your child for change and will help them to look forward to the new opportunities and adventures that lie ahead.

By dispelling myths and building their confidence, I can help your child handle the change easily, and avoid any long term damage to their self-esteem.

Handling change, no matter how old you are, is often difficult as it takes you out of your comfort zone of familiarity. It takes your children away from familiar places, teachers, friends, buildings, school runs and routines.

So it can be scary, but it can also be exciting.

I remember writing my ‘Making The Big Leap To Secondary School Successfully’ workbook and MP3 download exactly because my daughter Molly was going through the same experience as your children will be going through soon. I remember she was feeling excited but also a little apprehensive about all the changes that she’s was going to experience. Click here to download it now.

Children naturally have mixed feelings about this change.

But handling change, no matter how old you are, is all about your attitude to it. If you think it will be awful … guess what … it will be! Also if you think it will be exciting and fine … guess what … it will be !

Children worry about getting lost, as the school is much bigger and looks like a maze of endless corridors with thousands of people, or they worry about not fitting in, or having the mickey taken out of them if they don’t like sport, or football. They worry about their physical appearance, their spelling, their journey- the list is endless.

I remember Chris who was aged 11 when I chatted with him on one of my ‘Making The Big Leap’ Workshops who said, “I was scared that I wouldn’t make any friends and that I’d get bullied. I was sad about leaving my old school as I’d been so happy there and I was going to miss my best mate as he was going to another school. But at the same time I was excited too as the school trips sound amazing.”

I run an informal fun workshop for kids in the Summer holidays just before they start their Secondary School where I teach them lots of my strategies, and techniques for coping with the first few weeks of starting their new school.

I help children look back at their time in Primary School with pride, & look forward to their new school with confidence.

I help them acknowledge their worries and anxieties and then I help them deal with them, reframe them and handle them with more ease.

I empower your children with new ways of thinking, new ways of acting and new ways of handling change – all in an informal, fun atmosphere.

Your child will be learn my

5 Step Self Esteem Solution which typically has five sections:

  1. An appreciation about your child from their perspective – what they like about themselves.
  2. What other family members love, respect and admire about them.
  3. What makes your child REALLY happy and is most important to them from their perspective.
  4. How to support them at home, at school and in life generally while they are going through these changes in their family circumstances.
  5. What’s working/not working from their perspective.

My 5 Step Self Esteem Solution  is a simple, profound & powerful strategy for your child to have in their  toolkit for life – so why not get your child to join me for a couple of hours while we work together to nurture and transform your child’s life.

I am passionate about helping children grow up with the gift of self confidence and deep long lasting self esteem so I look forward to meeting your children on my fun filled, empowering workshop.
