How Homestart Can Help & Not Just at Christmas.

I am very proud to be one of the Ambassadors for Home Start because it is a remarkable charity and last night I had the privilege of being invited to attend the Home-Start Charity Carol Service in St. Bride’s Church in Fleet Street – the most delightful place of worship. It has recently been refurbished and has a beautifully calm atmosphere just perfect for beginning the lead up to Christmas.

But Christmas can be a time of intense stress and anxiety for many families and across the country, Home Start has thousands of volunteers who offer friendship and practical help to families with at least one child under the age of 5.

Home Start is one of the UK’s leading family support charities offering practical support to struggling families at a time when they need it most.

Home-Start’s unique approach is to recruit and train parent volunteers to support struggling families in their own homes. This can be for any reason including domestic abuse, multiple births, isolation, depression, bereavement and mental health. Last year Home-Start supported almost 70,000 children and their families.

Life is very difficult for many young families at the minute, and Home-Start is seeing an increase in families coming forward for support with more complex needs such as financial pressures, housing difficulties and relationship breakdown.

But Home-Start can help, and in difficult times, make fragile families strong again.

In the last year, almost a thousand children have been removed from a child protection plan where Home-Start was supporting the family.

It was lovely to meet Kirstie Allsopp again, who is a keen supporter of the wonderful work Home Start UK do:

Kirstie said ‘“I admire greatly the work that Home-Start carries out in supporting families across the UK. Their volunteers do a fantastic job in supporting families with a diverse range of needs, everything from post natal illness and multiple births, through to domestic abuse and poverty. Home-Start stops many families from reaching crisis point, and I am proud to be an ambassador of their work.”

Please pop across now to make a donation to this really wonderful charity or why not buy their Christmas cards here to send to your family knowing that you have helped another family by your donation.

Home-Start helps families with young children deal with whatever life throws at them. They support parents as they learn to cope, improve their confidence and build better lives for their children.
