Why not create your own mini Olympics with your kids ?

I’ve just come back from a special occasion – seeing the Olympic Torch float down the River Thames on its final journey to the Olympic Stadium tonight at 20.12 pm

We made an occasion of it by getting up at 6 am to head over to my friend’s house in Teddington. I have very fond memories of Teddington as I went to University at St.Mary’s College in  Twickenham and it was wonderful to see the thousands of people who had turned out to watch the Gloriana elegantly pass by surrounded by a flotilla of supporting boats. Bells rang out, people cheered and flags were hung on the paths by the river.

It was special.

So it got me thinking …. why not have fun in your garden creating your own special memories by having a mini Olympics with your kids?

You could have a mini Team GB football game, a mini athletics race round your garden, a shot put with a tennis ball – all sorts of fun activities that get your kids active and building fun memories of their Summer holidays in this special 2012 year.

I’d love to see your pictures and hear your news – so send them to me at [email protected] and I’ll post them up 🙂

Enjoy the opening ceremony – it’s going to be awesome – look out for Mary Poppins !
