So…… what’s stopping you?

Well, last night I started on dancing towards one of my goals for this year….. we went Salsa dancing in The Crow’s Nest and boy was it brilliant fun and going to be great exercise!

I just loved the rhythm and the music and it was really lovely to meet like minded people all in the same boat as us …. real beginners. We were a motley crew – all different ages, shapes and backgrounds but what was magical was watching people gain in confidence as the evening went on.

A little smile and a word or two of encouragement after I danced with all my partners (we had to keep moving on to the next dance partner after each segment) worked wonders in the way they seemed to stand taller, take the lead more confidently and seemed to exert more positive energy.

As you know I’m trained by Paul McKenna and  Tony Robbins so as an NLP (Neuro- Linguistic Programming – the study of how we communicate with ourselves and others ) trained person I just let myself relax and tap into having fun and moving naturally to the rhythm and I let my unconscious take in all the new learning of steps and it really worked! I had great fun, learnt loads and laughed lots !

It make me think about how we all learn new things. If we get tense and anxious everything seems to be that much harder whereas as soon as we relax, get curious and a little playful we seem to pick up new things much easier – in fact with little effort at all!

It’s all about not worrying what other people think of us – having a go and having fun…… so I can’t wait till next week and I’m really looking forward to making new friends over the coming weeks and seeing how we all improve and have fun making progress.

Life is about exploring our potential in lots of different areas of our lives. It’s not about staying continually safe in our comfort zones. It’s about relaxing, having fun and trying new things as from there we are better parents, better lovers and better friends as we are fulfilled.

I talk a lot about “me” time and I am working with a lovely group of Mums every other week looking at how they discipline their kids,  but do you know what we spend most of our time examining ……?  STRESS !

So I have made them ponder new ways to have fun , relax and come back replenished, refreshed, rejuvenated and raring to go and that’s why I wrote this blog as Salsa is my way to relax, have fun and come back full of beans ready to face another day.

So…… what’s stopping you from having a go at a new skill, new hobby, new dance class, learn a new langauge, read a new book or do some self development course?

Let me know what you’ve have had a go at – get brave, get courageous and feel the fear and do it anyway….. who knows you may just have the time of your life !!
